English for Specific Purposes was born in the 1960s as a technical texts-analysis area. The study of language use over language form strengthened at the end of the decade and materials development became a popular trend. The 1970s and 1980s witnessed the consolidation of the movement in the emphasis on language skills and booming research. Central concepts such as genre , rhetorical moves and English for Specific Purposes (ESP)is a subdivision of a wider field, Language for Specific Purposes (LSP), which is defined as: "…the area of inquiry and practice in the development of language programs for people who need a language to meet a predictable range of communicative needs." Swales, 1992: 300 She is the author of articles on English for academic purposes and Coeditor (with U. Connor) of Coherence in Writing: Research and Pedagogical Perspectives (TESOL, 1990). She is Coeditor (with Tony Dudley-Evans and John Swales) of English for Specific Purposes: An International Journal. English in VHS belongs to English for Specific Purposes (ESP) which described as an approach to language teaching which aims to unify the need of particular learners. ESP in vocational high school is called English for Vocational Purposes (EVP) (Widodo, 2014).
